Tiger Review Paul from WinSupersite.com got his hands on the final version of Mac OS X Tiger and put it through the paces. He has posted his review, which goes surprisingly in depth, and seems to walk away a bit underwhelmed. Not that there is a major problem with Tiger, but rather he notes that the 200 additions really don’t amount to much. Rather, Spotlight and Dashboard are really the only significant upgrades to an already solid OS platform.

Contrary to Apple’s hyperbolic claims of “200 new features,” Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger includes, in my opinion, only two major new features, Spotlight and Dashboard, and both were clearly influenced by other existing products and services. In this section, we’ll examine both of these major new features.

Mariah Emancipation Review

It has been promoted as The Return of the Voice.  Saying that the “old” Mariah is back. She’s been co-producing her own albums since 1990 and has more #1 hits than any other female artist in history.  She is the #1 selling recording artist of the 1990’s. Is she back? Where did she go? Does this album have what it takes to redeem her credibility as an artist? Producer? Singer?  I decided to take a trip home with Mariah on her emancipation journey partly expecting to be disappointed, but also hopeful of all the hype this album has created.  Does it live up? We take a track-by-track look at Mariah’s latest.

Orange SPV M2000 ReviewIf you have been looking for a good Skype phone for use on the go, this seems to be the one to get. In fact, the reviewer seems to think that this Pocket PC 2003 phone could possibly be a laptop replacement. A bold statement, but reading the review does make us wonder.

This device is extremely useful and can do a great deal. With the keyboard slid home it looks like many other PocketPC’s or PocketPC Phones, but the inclusion of the keyboard - which after a very short while is easy to master - means that this gets a definite thumbs up from me.

SLEEPTRACKER

Update: If you think the SLEEPTRACKER watch is cool, check out our video of the SLEEPPHASE Alarm Clock!

A few weeks ago we told you about a product called SLEEPTRACKER. The SLEEPTRACKER watch is unique in that while it tells you the time and has a built-in alarm like every other digital watch, this one actually monitors your sleep and wakes you at the moment that your body would best adjust from moving from a sleeping state to being awake. Does it live up to the hype? Find out after the jump.

Gear Live Playlist We have a schizophrenic Playlist this time, with rappers and beach bums, with soul singers and pop bands.  50 Cent is back, as is Jack Johnson, both trying to improve over their last successful releases.  Sage Francis furthers the cause of underground hip-hop, and Sam Cooke is our collection essential, putting a little soul in this dreary winter.  Enjoy the Playlist, and let me know what you think in our forums or by emailing me.

Gear Live Playlist Following last weeks singer-songwriter fest, I promised more testosterone this week, and here is my attempt to deliver.  A debut by rap music’s newest golden boy and the all out rock of Death From Above 1979 and Rage Against the Machine give this Playlist some aggression and anger…Throw in a little R&B and indie rock, and you have this week’s Playlist.

SCOTTeVEST Classic VestIt’s always good to see folks improve on an established formula.  Without progress, all of our wonderful gear wouldn’t be as sleek, powerful, and as tiny as they currently are.  In today’s case, took their original product, the Classic Vest—Version 1.0—and added in features seen in their more recent offerings, such as a softer exterior, more pockets, and increased breathability.  Today Gear Live delves into this great piece of attire that’ll keep all of your gear organized and accessible without breaking the bank in the process.  Click below for the full review.

Description

CNet has reviewed the , and their results are less than stellar. Recieving a 7.0 on a 10 point scale, the iPod shuffle is billed by them as good for only those who know exactly what it is going to do. Users who may buy it just because of the Apple brand name will be disappointed to not have a screen, and the shuffle ‘mystery’ is simply a marketing gimmick to cover up the fact that there are no playlists. One user review even goes so far as to claim that “The only thing going for this player is the iPod name.” The iPod shuffle is light on features and only looks pretty. But I bet millions will still buy it.
